HvJ EU: namen van vlees- en zuivelproducten (burgers, yoghurt) mogen aan plantaardige varianten worden toegekend
A ruling by the EU Court of Justice clarifies the use of names linked with foodstuffs of animal origin for plant-based food products. The heart of the matter is the terminology used for plant-based alternatives, particularly the labelling of these products using meat-related terms such as steak, sausage, or burgers. The ruling, however, paves the way for member states to prevent the marketing of products such as 'veggie steaks' by other means.
