ECHR: judges on social media v. freedom of expression

As a matter of principle judges enjoy freedom of expression, but the specific position in which they find themselves has an impact on the scope of that freedom and there are certain limits to what judges can say. Over time, the Strasbourg Court has developed an interesting case law on the issue. The case of Danilet v. Romania concerns a judge who was disciplined after sharing incendiary Facebook posts.
